SICK!!

So I got the flu yesterday. Not happy. I haven't had the flu in a couple of years but when I do it's full on - "I'm probably the sickest person in the world!"
Well, not really, but that's probably how I act around the house.

For now it will hopefully be none of this, lots of fluids and rest. Normally I would enjoy lying around but with an aching body this sucks!

Note to self - quit whining and get well.

And look for the positive!

Be well - Cheers!

Get Back On Track

The dreaded rut! I'm not currently in one but my body feels sluggish, tired and sore and I feel I could possibly fall into one. I think the busy travel schedule for work is catching up. I even ate a double cheeseburger and fries from McDonald's today. My training has been decent but a struggle so how better to snap out of it than assess where I need to improve and make a plan - either that or the fact I'll be in Kona in two weeks should be enough to get the adrenaline flowing.

My swim. Gotta say that I find it difficult to get excited about the pool especially during winter. During the summer I use a 50 meter outdoor pool in Burlington and I love it - the sun shining, it's awesome. Indoors during the winter - not so much. So I need to have an attitude review and get in the pool.

For now I'll be Honu-like.....

....but I'll get the miles in.

It's funny cause this picture reminds me of my transitions during the Guelph Lake 2 sprint tri this past summer. It was the first sprint tri I competed in probably 5 years and my transitions were horrible! I'm pretty sure a spectator was about to help me as they watched me attempt to wrestle my wetsuit off.

Competition will be tough and a strong bike always sets up a strong run. It will be crucial to put in quality work and not just put in junk miles.

At the same time it is important to take in the sights!

While this is gross it does illustrate the importance of focus and the ability to push even when things aren't going your way. In triathlon the run is key to success - the ability to run hard in a fatigued state will always pay dividends.

It also doesn't hurt to have a little "attitude"

So there you have it - commit to the process and success will be yours. Go get it you trigeeks!

Cheers!

Oh Lance You Genetic Freak!

So Lance Armstrong has jumped to long distance tri racing at age 40. He has season race plan with Panama 70.3, Texas 70.3, Florida 70.3, Hawaii 70.3 and Ironman France on the menu with the goal of getting enough Pro points to race the Big Dance in Hawaii. Forums like Slowtwitch predict him placing 5th to 10th. So Lance flies in on his private jet with this rocket of a bike to have a go at the first 70.3 of the season.

He made the lead pack of the swim and headed out with uberbiker Chris Lieto.
Lance pushed pace on the bike but stayed within himself to start the run in 2nd. Early into the run he passed Lieto to take the lead! He ran well despite being a little on the 'heavy' side.

He led the race right up to the last mile when superrunner Bevan Docherty passed him for the win. His 3:50.54 posting for HIM is spectacular.

Oh Lance you have stirred up the triathlon world - stay injury-free and we can enjoy the antics!

Cheers!

Stuperbowl!!

So the Superbowl, one of the greatest events on Earth, played out after a way-too-long hype period. Aside from a lot of huge men grappling with each other - the game wasn't bad.

There was a lot of this! He may be thinking but it usually is a result of a defensive or offensive coordinator giving instruction.

There were aches and pains...

Tom Brady did a lot of this - unfortunately his receivers did not get the memo that they had to catch the pass!

Perhaps this may be why! I originally thought this was a funny pic but I now think it's disturbing.

That's a man baby! I think Madonna covered up the arms and legs due to the maniless of her appendages.

Enough said!

Yoda just tells it like it is! So small yet always so wise.

Cheers!
